Oh God. What just happened?

I’m still trying to catch my breath. Havoc’s looking at me with an expression so savage, so possessive, but also tender. I feel like I just discovered a whole new part of myself I didn’t even know existed.

“You okay, angel?” he asks in a hoarse voice.

I nod, even though I’m not sure “okay” even begins to cover whatever this thing between us is. I feel amazing, overwhelmed and terrified all at once.

“Come on, sweetheart,” he says, scooping up my clothes from the floor. “Let’s get you cleaned up.”

“I can do that,” I protest, but my voice sounds weird and breathy.

“I know you can.” He looks down at me with intense eyes and a small, reassuring smile, handing me my sweater. “But I’m taking care of you now, angel.”

Oh my God, this man’s gonna make my heart explode in my chest. I don’t know when the last time anyone actually took care of me was. Will sure never did.

Havoc leads me down the hall to his bathroom, which is seriously nice. Like, spa-level nice. He starts running water in the massive, claw-footed bathtub while I stand there with my arms wrapped around me, feeling suddenly shy.

“This is really not necessary,” I tell him.

“Yes, it is,” he replies softly, his gravelly voice taking a low, soothing tone that makes my insides melt. He tests the water temperature, then adds a bath oil that smells amazing. “You need to relax, angel. Process what just happened.”

“I’ve processed,” I lie.

He grins, his handsomeness dazzling me, giving me a look that says he knows I’m full of it, which, fair, because I totally am. My brain is going a million miles an hour right now.

“Get in,” Havoc insists in a firm but gentle tone. “I’ll grab you some water and something to eat.”

“You don’t have to…”

“Tyra.” He pins me with another soft look, running his knuckles along my jaw. “Let me take care of you. Please.”

The way he says that makes something flutter in my chest. So I nod and climb into the tub.

Holy hell, this feels incredible! The water’s the perfect temperature, and what he put in smells like cedar and lavender. I sink in until I’m up to my chin and let out a sigh of pleasure.

My entire body feels different. More alive. Is this what I’m supposed to feel like?

Havoc knocks on the door. “Can I come in? Got your water.”

“Um, sure.”

He enters with a big glass of water and what looks like dark chocolate. Sets them on the edge of the tub where I can reach them, then surprises me by sitting on the floor next to the bathtub like this is all completely normal.

“Drink,” he orders gently.

I do and realize I’m actually really thirsty. “Thanks.”

“How are you feeling?”

“Good. Really good, actually.” I pause. “Is it weird that I feel kind of… proud of myself?”

He chuckles, bringing out the laugh lines at the corners of his eyes. God, he’s handsome. “Not weird at all, angel. You should be proud.
